Ploiesti Neutering Challenge Day 12

This past week we held Day 12 of our Ploiesti Neutering Challenge, our last day of free sterilizations this year. On Day 12 we helped 12 animals with free sterilizations, that is, 8 dogs and 4 cats. At the end of 2012, we can happily say we have sterilized a total of 328 animals this year. That is almost one animal per day! It was a lot of hard work and huge efforts from our volunteers, combined with support from many kind hearted donors, that made this huge achievement possible for the strays of Ploiesti. How many innocent pups and kittens were not born in the streets this year alone to a life of suffering? Countless.

Here's Day 12 in pictures:

Bogdan earning the trust of one pregnant stray female dog and catching her gently by hand

Her pups from the previous generation, enduring the cold and hunger outside; such hard life for innocent pups is precisely what we try to prevent with our sterilization campaigns

An exceptionally lucky female dog we took for sterilization; she is very well taken care of by people in her neighborhood and she even has her own improvised shelter with blankets!

Volunteer Alina feeding more strays; some of them were taken for free sterilization

A little doggie, recently abandoned, that we met on Day 12 in the street

Animals were taken to the FPCC clinic, sterilized, and kept at the clinic for 48 hours in order to fully recover. Here's their return into their territories in pictures:

Recovered and waiting to be released

Sterilized, with ear tag to show it

One sterilized lady, coming out of the van and going back into her territory

Another female doggie, picked up by the volunteer who cares for her in the street

Day 12 was supported by Claudia and her dear Happy, Guen, Ulrike, Jane, Lyn, Anja and Caroline. Thank you, dear friends of Ploiesti strays, for not forgetting about them! Thank you for your continued, thoughtful support for these animals. As for us, we continue our work until the day no pup would be born to be abandoned again in the streets of Ploiesti!
